How comfortable & quiet is a Porsche Boxster on long distance motorway journeys?

Calling all Boxster owners - I'm thinking of buying a Porsche Boxster but I'd only really use it for a 200 mile journey I do twice a week. I've a Jag X-type at the moment - would I find the Boxster much noisier and a rougher ride?|||I'm sorry you can't afford a 911.|||The Boxster will be firmer. It'll be up to you to decide if that's "rough." Porsche is proud of their exhaust notes; they're actually engineered. If you're looking for a marshmallow for a short trip (200 miles isn't much, although I can imagine how twice a week, month after month, might feel), get a Cadillac or a small Mercedes. As far as I can tell, there is no convertible X Type. There is only the cabriolet (convertible) Boxster. That alone will make the car much louder to you.

You can't carry much in a Boxster. While it has two trunks, they're both small. If you're planning on hauling your golf clubs, forget it. Get a Cadillac, a small Mercedes, or an Audi.

All of that said, the Boxster is about ten times the automobile the "recycled Ford Mondeo (Type X Jaguar)" is. If you really want a Porsche and can put up with the lack of golf cart capabilities, you might be happier in the Cayman.

The Cayman is more than a coupe version of the Boxster (says the man with a 911 Turbo S). It'll be quieter, you can equip it with a more powerful engine, and I'm guessing you'd like it better. Above all, it's a Porsche.|||Virtually ANY Porsche is meant to be driven at high speeds for long distances...comfortably.

It's much more of a true sports car than the Jag(and more visceral), but I doubt you would have any issues doing a 200 mile jaunt twice a week.

Actually, you'll probably be looking forward to it, after you and the car get acclimated.|||Yes, the little boxster will be much worse than your x-type. If you want cars for a long journey like that, stay with the grand touring class of automobiles, as they are optimally designed for long distance driving.
