What problems do the 1999 Porsche Carerra have?

I know that the 1999 Carerra was a big change for Porsche. What are some common problems that they had? Do they have a lot of problems? I've owned 2 air cooled 911's and they've both been great. How about the '99's?|||As previous answers, rear main oil seals are a problem, but you can also get leaks from the oil drain tubes either side of the engine (Plastic tubes, 3 per side), and the rocker covers themselves can leak.

Also, the cam actuation solenoids on these engines can give trouble, which are extremely labour intensive to replace (One either side).

Also, with age/mileage you can get running issues with corrosion on the spark plug ignition coils (Causing poor running), defective lamba sensors on the exhaust system and also problems with the air mass sensor.

Watch out for brake corrosion, especially on the insides of the brake discs.

If you are thinking of buying, I would strongly recommend getting a 111 point check done by a Porsche dealer, as they can also run a diagnostic check for any faults. Avoid buying cheap as there is no such thing as a cheap Porsche.|||They are mostly solid except for the rear main seal leaks and the coolant reservoir leaks other than routine maintenance that is about it.|||None, it's a Porsche.

The Porsche 911 is known as one of the most reliable German cars ever made.
