When did porsche start using triptronic?

I want to buy a secondhand porsche but don't drive manual. What years can I shop for?|||The 1989 911 Carrera 2 and Carrera 4 were the first Porsches with Tiptronic option availible. Just to clarify, they made plenty of Porsches before that with automatic transmissions (such as the 928, 944 and 924 to name a few) they just didn't have the Tiptronic transmission.|||500 B.C. would be your best bet|||I THINK IT WAS ABOUT 1985, I SAW THE FIRST ADVERT|||I think early 2000. Somewhere around there.|||Tiptronic was first used in the Porsche 911 964 variant built from 1989 to 1993. It was then fitted to every model of 911 to this day. However, there have been automatic Porsche since the Sixties, in the form of the 911 Sportmatic and 928 automatics. Best to stick to the Tiptronic though. I have a 2001 996 Tiptronic and the gearchange is amazing.
