How do I tell if my 1982 Porsche 928 is a Weissach Special Edition?

I just purchased my 1982 Porsche. Its original color was gold. I have been reading that there were only about 200 of the Special Edition cars made. Since I am the 3rd owner, the original rims are not on the car (they were replaced with Boxter rims) and I cant see any special markings. I am curious. The title on the car says body style is 2S. Doesnt that mean second series? Please help if you are knowledeable about the Porsche. Thanks.|||Hi, The porsche 928S is actually the second version as you say, with some exceptions, It doesn't actually mean second version. The Porsche 928 started out in 1978 as a "928" then in 1979-1983 it was called the "928S" then in 1984-1986.5 it was called the "928S2" then in 1987-2004 it was called the 928S4, with an option from 1992 to purschase the all mighty 928S4.GT They were all great cars with every new model coming with bigger and better engines, brakes, suspension, interior and body styles with the S4 GT coming with wider fenders to give it that more aggressive look. These cars also came with many options that could be ordered. Now the only way to confirm if your car is a Weissach or Limited edition is to take the VIN number and the Engine number and go to a Porsche dealer near you. With proof that you are the owner of the vehicle, then for a small fee they can get a full build report of the entire car with, colour, engine size, special items added if any at all as well as other information that may be of interest to you. Porsche is very helpful with these kind of request, only thing is they will charge that small fee, but it is worth it and you can then pass the details onto the next owner, which only help you when you decide to sell the vehicle. Hope this helps you..|||They were all a funny silver brown color and listed on the manufacturers option tag, which is under the spare tire under the back hatch there should be a build code sheet with that code on it....at least I think that's where I found my build sheet...

(this is actually from my husband the car guy)
