I have a 911 porsche targa (1987 model) apparently the push rods are bent. Can I have them repaired or replaced without replacing the crank or any other major part?|||Since there are no pushrods on your engine, it is more likely that you have bent the piston rods.
This will require a complete dis-assembly of your engine to replace the piston rods (which connect the crankshaft to the pistons) and will include removal of the crankshaft. The crankshaft can likely be reused if it has not been damaged, but you are looking at an entire engine rebuild.|||I don't think anyone would know if the connecting rods were bent, so it is more likely the chain jumped and the valves got bent.
This is not a terribly expensive fix.
The pistons and connecting rods can survive contact with the valves.
Only the top end has to be done.
I would estimate under $2000, including a new timing chain and tensioners.|||No. This is an overhead cam engine - there are no pushrods.
Here are the specifications for your engine: http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/defau鈥?/a> .
