I think the best Porsche could be a gt3 or turbo?? Can one be imported to Australia that is right hand drive cheaply? I e from the Uk? I think the Porsche is the epitome of German automotive engineering!|||The best Series is easy, as that would be the 997.
The best specific model would depend on what you consider best. It's easy to say one performs better than another, but if your criteria for "best" were to be lowest cost of ownership, most cargo capacity, seats two or more in the most comfort... then you'd easily come to the conclusion that the base model Carrera 2 Coupe is the "best." But if you want all that, and think a convertible that could drive in the snow would be "best," then maybe the base model Carrera 4 Cab would be "best," easily eclipsing all other models.
In terms of performance, the motorsports models of GT3RSR, GT3R, and GT3 Cup all will out perform any of the street cars... so if performance is "best", then either the GT3RSR or GT3R depending on the specific contest (GT3 Cup gets the nod if price figures in as it's really hard to beat that package). However, if you are looking at street cars but still defining strictly on performance, then it would be the GT2RS, with the GT3RS and GT2 as runners up (the exact second place would depend on just what kind of contest you'd use to measure performance).
In other measures of "best," the Turbo is easily the best GT car, offering performance that is not far behind other models, along with more comfort and day to day ease of use... though if cost of ownership enters into the equation at all, it's hard to go with any turbo model and we'd instead be looking at some version of the Carrera S... which means we've now covered the entire lineup!
So there you go, depending on how you define best you'll wind up picking one, but as the nature of car being that in order to do one thing well, you must compromise something else, you'll never have one that does everything! So what exactly is "best" to you? Answer that and you'll answer which model is "best."
As for "cheap," again this is rather subjective... one of the guys I race with purchased a GT2 in order to have a toy to play with while he was waiting for his 959 to be made road legal for the US (959s were finally able to be made road legal in the US not too long after the GT2 was introduced). So if you consider $180k or so cheap and what can be spent on a whim, you'll look at this very differently than someone that must plan and budget in order to buy a 10 year old Boxster.
What is safe to say is that any 997 will be at least somewhat costly by most any measure, and that current ecomomic ups and downs will have a huge affect on that cost if you are buying out of country (due to the ups and downs of exchange rates). And I would expect that your government will have a lineup of fees related to importing such a costly item... but as to what is "cheap," you will need to answer this for yourself by 1) deciding on what your budget is, 2) figuring out where you are buying and the related excahnge rates, and 3) what fees, tarifs, and taxes will be related to that purchase.|||The fastest and best is the GT2 RS.
But for comfort and every day super car speed, the 911 Turbo is best.
The GT2 RS and GT3 RS are street legal race cars. GT2 is more powerful since it is a turbocharged version of the GT3.
